✧ Printing Instructions

Print the pattern at 100% scale (actual size) on A4 or US Letter paper.

Make sure scaling is turned off in your printer settings.

A test square is included on the first page of the pattern file — We recommend that you print just the first page with the test square to check that the square measures correctly before printing the rest of the pattern.

✧ Fabric Recommendations 

This pattern works best with light woven fabrics that have a soft feel and gentle drape.

Ideal fabric types include cotton lawn, cotton poplin, linen, lightweight chambray, voile, and double gauze.

For a more delicate or dressy look, you can also use fabrics like satin, viscose, or lightweight crepe, just be sure to stabilize slippery fabrics with pins or clips while sewing.

Avoid heavy or stiff fabrics, as they may not gather or shape well.

If you’re using very lightweight or flowy fabrics and plan to add one of the variation styles (like the Bow, Butterfly, or Bunny Ears), I recommend adding lightweight fusible interfacing or fusible fleece to the wrong side of your fabric before sewing. This step is optional but can help your scrunchie hold its shape better, especially if you’re aiming for a clean, professional finish.

✧ Fabric Requirements 

The full pattern (all six scrunchie sizes and all five variations) fits within 90 cm x 80 cm (36 x 32 inches) of fabric.

To be safe, we recommend having 1 meter of fabric if you plan to make the complete set.

To sew just one scrunchie in a single size (without any added elements), you’ll need about 80 cm x 20 cm (32 x 8 inches) of fabric.

You can use one fabric for the whole bundle or mix different fabrics to create unique combinations.

✧ Preparing Your Fabric

Before cutting your fabric, make sure to wash and iron it first.

This helps prevent shrinkage after sewing and makes the fabric easier to handle.

Light woven fabrics may wrinkle easily, so a gentle press will give you more accurate cutting and cleaner results.

Always lay your fabric flat and smooth before placing your pattern pieces.

✧ Supplies & Materials Needed 

To create your scrunchies, you’ll need:

• Light woven fabric

(check the fabric recommendation & fabric requirements)

• Elastic – 0.3 cm or 0.5 cm wide (⅛” or ¼”), approx. 18 cm per scrunchie

• Safety pin , loop turner

• Basic sewing tools – scissors or rotary cutter, pins or clips, sewing machine, thread

• Iron (for pressing fabric and seams)

• Double-sided iron-on hemming tape

• Blunt tool (for shaping or light pressing)

Additional materials for variations:

• Lace trim: approx. 80 cm (for the lace version)

• Polyester stuffing or batting (for the tulip version)
